Best Books on Real Estate Investing

It’s been almost thirty years since Robert T. Kiyosaki’s bestseller Rich Dad Poor Dad arrived in bookstores, changing a generation’s thoughts about personal finance. The book opened up the ideas and principles of real estate investing to the average person and, in the years since its publication, Rich Dad Poor Dad has remained popular.

While the principles of money and investing have not changed in the 26 years since the book’s publication, the real estate industry and the tools certainly have. Vacation rentals have become a huge trend, flipping is incredibly common, and long-distance real estate investing is easier than ever. New experts have come along to shake up the industry, and we’ve rounded up some of the best books on real estate investing they’ve written.

The Book on Managing Rental Properties by Heather and Brandon Turner teaches you that necessary skill set. The book includes low-cost strategies to attract the best tenants, seven types of tenants you should never rent to, provisions that your rental lease should consist of, and tips on keeping the stress out of bookkeeping and taxes.

Buy, Rehab, Rent, Refinance, Repeat: The BRRRR Rental Property Investment Strategy Made Simple by David Greene

Buy, Rehab, Rent, Refinance, Repeat: The BRRRR Rental Property Investment Strategy Made Simple by real estate investor David Greene lays out the BRRRR strategy, which some investors use to finance properties. With this strategy, you buy a property under market value, rehab it, rent it out, refinance it to access more capital, and then use it to buy another property. This is a riskier strategy than most since it comes with a high level of risk, but if you have the appetite for it, this book will give you the step-by-step playbook to get started.
